Federal customs officials in Philadelphia have announced that they recently discovered more than 700 pounds (317 kilograms) of coc*ine hidden inside bedroom furniture and kitchen cabinets that were shipped from Puerto Rico to the United States. The drugs are said to have a street value of about $22 million. Customs and Border Protection officers uncovered the drugs which were hidden inside false walls of the furniture.
The more than 250 bricks of a white powdery substance is believed to be one of the area’s largest illicit drug bust in the past 12 years. The custom officers say they decided to search the furniture after they detected something unusual about one of the shipping containers.
