China which is the world leader in facial recognition technology has now equipped it’s police with dark hi-tech smart sunglasses that are capable of facial recognition. This enables the police to identify or pick out suspects in a crowd. The new smart glasses have reportedly already led to several arrests in China because they are connected to an online database of suspects. According to China news, using the smart glasses, the police were also able to pick out 26 people with fake IDs.
The general facial recognition system is used by some Microsoft pc users in signing into their computers. The equipment was tested at a train station in Zhengzhou and it helped the police to pick out seven suspects who are accused of crimes which includes hit-and-runs as well as human trafficking.
