In Italy, a country that covers a total area of 301,340 km2, coronavirus victims who are 80 years and above will be denied access to intensive care should pressure on beds increase. This is a proposal by the crisis management unit in Turin. This comes as the coronavirus continues to spread rapidly, killing over 2,000 people and over 30,000 infections in Italy. Italy has the highest number of deaths in Europe followed by Spain where the total death toll is presently 500+.

Italy, which is often described as a country shaped like a boot, has had a lot of economic set-back in the past few years. Italy receives a lot of tourists and this is probably one of the reasons why it has been seriously hit by the outbreak of the coronavirus. Recently, a Chinese company donated thousands of masks to Italy to help comback the COVIC-19 outbreak.
All sporting activities have been suspended until at least April 3, including the top two tiers of Italian football – Series A and B. Italy is now the worst-affected nation in the world after China, since the contagion came to light there on February 21.
