Renowned Italian-born conservationist Kuki Gallmann (73) who is the author of the best-selling memoir “I Dreamed of Africa” has been shot and injured in an ambush at her conservation park in central Kenya. Doctors say that if someone gets shot in the stomach, the gravity of the wound largely depends on how the bullet would traverse the inner organs in the upper abdomen. For now, there is no official report on how Gallmann is doing in the hospital. There is the possibility of one bleeding to death within minutes if the surrounding tissue don’t keep the blood from freely flowing out.
Gallmann is the owner of the Laikipia Nature Conservancy. Meanwhile, the case is still being investigated by the police. A luxury safari lodge owned by Ms Gallmann was burned down in march 2017.
