There are conflicting reports that over 100 school girls have been abducted by Boko Haram in Yobe state in the Northern part of Nigeria. Twelve vehicles carrying insurgents and heavy weaponry reportedly drove into the school campus, opened fire and let off explosives. Students and teachers then fled into the surrounding bush to ensure the safety of their lives.

Abdullahi Bego, a spokesman for Yobe state’s governor said that the Nigerian military has rescued 76 of the abducted girls after engaging in a gun battle with the Islamist group. It is very hard to believe the Nigeria military as they have claimed at least twice to have killed Abubakar Shakau, the leader of Boko Haram and it had turned out to be fake news. About 4 years ago, 376 school girls were also kidnapped in Nigeria by Boko Haram and this led to the harshtag #BringBackOurGirls
