President Donald Trump decided against doing a formal signing ceremony early next year because according to him, television news networks questioned whether he would keep his promise to sign the legislation before Christmas. He therefore decided to sign the $1.5 trillion tax overhaul package into law. Starting next year, the new law is expected to give big tax cuts to corporation and wealthy Americans and more modest reductions to other families.
Despite the fact that Republicans have the majority in both chambers of Congress, Trump has struggled during his first year in office to pass major bills that would deliver on his campaign promises. Therefore, signing this tax bill is the first major victory for trump.
