While trying to shot down any speculation that President Trump obstructed justice and might be impeached for it, Trump’s lawyer, John Dowd claims that the president is above the law. Is there anybody who is above the law? According to him: “The President cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution’s Article II] and has every right to express his view of any case.”
Dear Mr Dowd, if for instance Mr A kills your son and the president asks the police not to investigate Mr A or the killing, is that not obstruction of justice? There is a big difference between expressing one’s view and asking someone to do or to not do something.
