After the fall of ex-President Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe, the new government promised to compensate the white farmers whose lands were taken by force and given to black farmers. However, the white farmers involved do not hope to get back their lands.

Deon Theron, a 63-yr-old white man whose farm land was seized by Mugabe, now runs a guesthouse in the capital Harare. Theron told journalist that “I don’t expect my land to be returned, but I do think the government will explore getting people who have the skills back on the farms – and that means younger people from evicted families.” Theron further claimed that he was evicted after intimidation, violence and court cases.
