In a surprise visit to U.S troops in Iraq, President Donald Trump announced that he was ending U.S role as the world’s policeman. This issue is being discussed all over the media as The United States was never officially appointed to be a global policeman. In fact, there is no formal recognition of the position of a global policeman. His visit sparked controversy in Iraq where officials claim Trump did not follow the required norm. He did not meet with Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdel Mahdi.
Trump said he intends to reduce U.S. troops in Afghanistan and he also wants total withdrawal of U.S. troops who are based in Syria. According to him “It’s not fair when the burden is all on us. We don’t want to be taken advantage of any more by countries that use us and use our incredible military to protect them. They don’t pay for it and they’re going to have to.”
He went further to say that “We are spread out all over the world. We are in countries most people haven’t even heard about. Frankly, it’s ridiculous.”
