Erdogan was infuriated after two of his ministers earlier this month were prevented from addressing meetings in Germany for the Turkish diaspora, in support of a yes vote in April’s referendum. In a televised speech Sunday, Erdogan decided to use Germany’s Nazi past against Angela Merkel when he said: “When we call them fascists, Nazis they in Europe get uncomfortable. They rally together in solidarity. Especially Merkel. But you are right now employing Nazi measures.” Unlike other Germans who are not comfortable with what Erdogan said, Merkel seems to smile it off. After all, Donald Trump used Nazi Germany as example two months ago, but Merkel still visited him in the white house few days ago.
